Mrs. Alice Lovett accepts her appointment as sheriff of Jefferson County after the death of her husband, Sheriff Jessie Lovett. Her successor, J.B. Thomas (standing, glasses) and others act as witnesses.

This room often served as the bedroom for the sheriff (or deputy) and his wife while their children occupied the other bedrooms.
