Description
This was the official opening of Florida's first state-wide training school for law enforcement officers. Sheriffs and other law officers mingled with high state officials outside the main building moments before the indoor ceremonies started. Governor Farris Bryant is shown shaking hands at the extreme left. The Academy is operated by the Florida Sheriffs Bureau. Funds for the building and equipment were raised by the Florida Sheriffs Bureau. The training center has a capacity for 32 students for each two week schooling under 30 instructors drawn from the FBI, Highway Patrol, State Beverage Department and the Sheriffs Bureau.
